Health & Healing

Health is the free flow of energy through the body and can be achieved through an ever evolving mind, body, spirit balance or equilibrium.

Your body has incredible untapped potential to heal, that potential lies in a place of peace, deep inside you. It is always there, always accessible. Silence unlocks the body's innate capacity to heal and helps you move towards greater inner peace, guidance and well-being.

Power to Change Interview

I recently wrote a chapter in a book called Power to Change.  It includes my chapter - 5 P's to Making Life Enhancing Changes as well as chapters from 18 other experts in various modalities of creating change.

In addition to outlining how to facilitate change, I answer the question - 'why do people often wait until they have a life-threatening diagnosis, like cancer, to make life-enhancing changes?'. The 5 P's are: Pain, Power, Permission, Passion and Purpose.  Please use this link to listen to my interview: http://www.thepowertochangetelesummit.com/audioseries.htm

My Holiday Gift to You

You likely already know that I am a big fan of meditation.  When I started about 17 years ago it had a profound and wonderful impact on my life, one that has continued to deepen and evolve to this day.  The first thing I noticed when I started a daily meditation practice was a boost in my immune system.  I went from getting back to back, long lasting colds to never being sick. The other immediate benefit was an improvement in my energy level. During my daily meditation sessions I feel like I am recharging my internal battery!  Lastly, I just felt generally more grounded and less stressed.

Being passionate about meditation, a few years ago I decided to launch my own website and help people practice meditation by offering guided meditations.  I discovered that when I taught people meditation one-on-one they found it very easy.  But often when they got home and tried it on their own it was a different story.  So the idea of my guided meditations is that you feel like you have a teacher or guide right there with you, guiding and coaching you through a meditation session.  In short, meditation made easy!

Today I invite you to visit my PeacefulLife website and if you feel moved, choose a meditation that you would like to try - my holiday gift to you.  Then just reply to this e-mail with the name of the meditation you want and I will send you the file via Yousendit (a big file delivery service).

I hope that the meditations have a similar affect on you and your physiology and that this adds more energy and pleasure to your holidays!  Another time, I will tell you about the longer term, more spiritual benefits of meditation.

Namaste,
Jackie

Making more Informed Food Choices

The other day I wrote about the fun I had juicing and that started me thinking about my food choices. I am not vegetarian but I try to eat healthy, fresh foods, choose healthy combinations and incorporate some raw food with every meal. Below I have asked my colleague Cherie Strong some questions I had about food and food choices. Cherie is a Colon Hydrotherapist, Kinesiologist, Raw Food Educator and Yoga Instructor. I hope you enjoy her answers and insights! Here is a link to her website in case you have more questions or want some support to start off the new year with new and healthy eating habits. Cherie's philosophy includes a belief that you are your best judge as to what works best for you in the moment. She encourages people to let go of the 'isms' (raw foodism, veganism, vegetarianism etc) and instead opt to create and develop a loving and trusting relationship with your body knowing that your body always wants the purest of foods and often it is to satisfy the mind at the expense of the body that we make choices that are not in alignment with what our bodies truly want. Why is juicing such a powerful practice, especially for cancer patients or those healing from any illness?

Juicing Feast!

What do oranges, grapefruits, apples, cucumbers, arugula, ginger and carrots all have in common?  They were all part of my juice feast this morning. What a great way to start the weekend -  nourishing my body and stimulating my senses!  I started with the standard citrus juice and then I thought since I have the juicer out I might as well keep going.  It turned out that my juice feast became my breakfast. The fresh ginger was a real treat. I would highly recommend apple, carrot and ginger juice!

I love the notion of a juice feast vs. a juice fast. A fast sounds difficult and like I am depriving myself of something whereas what I am actually doing with a juicing breakfast is treating myself. If you want to find out more about juicing and eating raw foods please visit my colleague Cherie's web site.

Until next time - be, love and nourish your true self!
